I have a friend named Clinton Wolf. We’ve been friends since second grade even though our paths through junior and senior high took us in different directions. Clint and his wife Dawn have a webcomic. He’s the writer and she’s the artist. They launched it in 2009, a couple of months before I launched “Great” Thoughts. They’ve been really diligent in this project, promoting it at various comic and science fiction conventions.
The comic is Zombie Ranch, and it follows the lives of a group of zombie ranchers through the eyes of a reality TV show a generation after a zombie apocaplypse. It’s a creative twist on the zombie genre that combines a healthy dose of what-if with the type of comedy that comes when people have to buckle down, make lemonade from lemons and get on with the business of living life.
Both Clint and Dawn keep blogs on the site that describe various aspects of their experience . Clint in particular writes lots of thoughtful pieces on the zombie and western genres and his experience as a comic writer. They’re worth reading.
Anyway, Clint posted on Facebook last week that Zombie Ranch may get its one millionth page view this weekend. I don’t know if it did, but regardless I think that’s a pretty awesome achievement.
So I want to take a moment to congratulate Clint and Dawn and to encourage you to check out Zombie Ranch. It’s worth a look, and you don’t need to be an afficienado of either the zombie or the western genre to enjoy it.
