A Perfect Sunday?

I don’t know if there is such a thing as a perfect day, but in the midst of all the tragedy, fear and uncertainty that marks our world at this juncture today was pretty close. Summer is in town this weekend. The day started with a great church service, a sermon on the divide between religiousity for the sake of appearance and what it really means to follow Jesus.  Then the kids went to the zoo with Alissa’s brother and sister in law (thanks J & D!!!) while we had our second date of the weekend with lunch and a research shopping trip to explore our A/V options.   We got the kids home, and amazingly, we managed to get both of them to nap at home at the same time.  This allowed us to both enjoy a nice afternoon nap before heading out of a dinner of barbecued hot dogs in the park. To top it all off, the kids have gone to bed without a fight.

Could it have been better?  Sure.  If some house elves had taken care of the mess our our ongoing house reorganization, that would be a bonus.  It would have been nice if one of the kids hadn’t gone far enough over the line to cancel plans for s’mores.  Dinner probably would have been better with plates…or napkins…or even baby wipes.  Whoever forgot to pack those things is a bit of a yutz, but what are you going to do?

So perfect? No.  But it’s been a pretty dang good day, and weekend for that matter.
