No Place Like Home

Well, we had a very nice family “vacation” at Alissa’s parents’.  Highlights included a celebration of both her parents’ retirement and her mother’s birthday, miniature golfing, watching the Tour de France, a nice fish dinner in the yard on the Fourth, and seeing Harry and Annie riding around the yard on an electric ATV.  He’s very good about making sure she wears her helmet, and he’s a pretty good driver.  The problem is that Annie can’t steer yet, but she’s pretty much done with being a passenger.  She wants to drive.

This trip also included a milestone of sorts.  Aside from the first night when I ventured into the tent, the kids slept the last three nights on air mattresses in the living room, allowing Alissa and I to take the queen for ourselves. This was a first.

The weather was perfect, and we had a really good time, but really there’s no place like home and your own bed.  We got home, and I could hear the bed calling to me, so I took a brief nap before taking Harry to drama.  There really is nothing like your own bed.
