A week ago, I shared a link to contribute to the efforts to recall Republican legislators in Wisconsin. That’s an important issue, but as I’m certain you’re aware by now, Japan has been rocked by a massive 8.9 earthquake. Growing up in L.A., we’d frequently do drills for “The Big One” that simulated an 8.3 quake. That officials are only now talking about the deathtoll surpassing 1000 is a testament to Japanese preparedness and building codes. Even so, 8.9 is an incredibly large quake, and will cause great human suffering in the most prepared of communities.
I don’t intend for this blog to become some kind of fundraising clearinghouse, but in tough times people need to pull together to help those in need. To that end, please take a look at this short list of ways to help as compiled by The Huffington Post. If you find that yourself conflict by desire to donate to both causes but can only afford one, please choose Japan.
