Well, today (Tuesday) is International Women’s Day. I have been blessed to have been in various types of relationship with so many unique women in my life. Family, friend, colleague, mentor.  Each has had a unique roll to play in my life, and there are too many individuals to name in this post.

I will, of course, salute the most important woman in my life, my wife Alissa.  She is such an amazing woman.  Kind and compassionate, beautiful and brilliant, strong and sensitive. She has the patience to put up with me.  She’s an amazing mother.  She’s a natural leader.  She such a teacher, an example, a role model for our kids.  She’s awesome at her job and then comes home to make our home the happy, joyful place that it is.  And, by her love, her patience, her strength and her compassion, she makes me a better man.

So think about the women in your life.  Mothers and daughters, sisters, colleagues, leaders, friends.  Take a moment to reflect on how they make your life better.  Tell them you appreciate them. Show them you respect them.  Find out how you can make their lives better.

Above all listen.  Listen to how your words and  actions affect them.  And before you join in when someone’s saying disrespectful things about women, ask yourself how you would feel if those things were being said about youre wife, your sister, your friend, your daughter.
